From Vallouise, a small drivable road heads west to the fork of the Entre-les-Aigues valleys, where vehicles are left (refreshments, formerly...). From there, a path climbs the left bank of the torrent des Bans to the small promontory where the hut stands: about 480 m of positive elevation gain. In the past, one could see directly onto the névés extending the lower edges of the glacier.
2012: guarded on weekends in May by reservation and from 9 June to 15 September. Stone building dating from 1948, with a relatively modest capacity, offering 22 places in winter as well, but in a very harsh and impressive setting. The ease and brevity of access are inversely proportional to what awaits the climber once past the hut: Les Bans, the Bœufs-Rouges, the Pic des Aupillous, the col du Sellar, one rarely escapes with less than 1500 m of elevation gain on the ascent, and what an ascent! A water catchment is available next to the hut, the flow being managed by a valve; I do not know if it still flows outside the guard period.
