Access

From La Bérarde, go up the Vénéon valley towards the Pilatte glacier via the [->6024]. Since September 2021, access to the valley beyond the bridge over the Vénéon at the level of the Says stream has been strictly prohibited by a municipal order.

Good to know

Since September 2021: the municipal order available at https://refugelapilatte.ffcam.fr/ specifies the total and definitive closure of both huts (summer and winter) as well as the prohibition of access to the valley beyond the bridge over the Vénéon at the level of the Says stream. The accelerated melting of the Pilatte glacier is causing the destabilisation of the rocky base on which the building stands. The major damage observed last spring no longer allows the public to be welcomed safely and has led to further geological expertise. In light of the findings of this study and in accordance with municipal order no. 2021-032 issued by the mayor of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans: Access to the platform on which the building stands is now prohibited. The two buildings that make up the Pilatte refuge (main building and winter shelter) are completely closed to the public: no emergency shelter is accessible, and no accommodation or catering services are provided.
