Following the severe storms that occurred on 21 June 2024, access to the Vénéon valley is complicated, particularly with the ban on all traffic on the road to La Bérarde (RD530) from the Pré Clot hamlet (after the village of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans). Free shuttle services are available on reservation from Bourg-d'Oisans to the Combe de Pierre Noire between Les Étages and La Bérarde. Access to the La Bérarde hamlet is strictly prohibited, including on foot; alternative hiking routes are provided. The trails in the valley have been affected to varying degrees by these storms. Bear in mind that travel times and elevation gains may no longer be reliable, and therefore the various guidebooks are not to be trusted until further notice. From La Bérarde, count 200m of elevation gain and about 1 hour.
In summer: staffed, 33 beds in dormitories and rooms of 8 to 4 people. Half board or à la carte lunch for meals/refreshments. 2026 dates: 04 July to 24 August. Outside summer: unstaffed, 10 beds. Access to the ground floor of the building (door to the right of the building). There is no gas, heating or electricity; only mattresses and blankets are provided. Payment in cash or bank cheque.
