By car: After Cauterets, drive up to the Hôtel de la Fruitière. Take the trail towards Lac d'Estom. Halfway before reaching the lake, turn left to head towards the refuge. Easy walk through the forest, very pleasant in summer. Allow 2 hours from the parking lot.
Hut in three rooms: an entrance with a non-functional fireplace used as a dry room / wood storage. Main room: 3 tables, 4 benches, a working fireplace, numerous shelves, kitchen utensils (pots + pans + plastic glasses), a food stock (coffee, pasta, salt, pepper), 2 books and 1 guestbook. Upper dormitory with 14 mattresses (10 on concrete lower bunks + 4 on wooden bunks), about twenty blankets. Lighting (timer). The whole is equipped with a solar installation and lights. An extension has been added but is locked. There is a fountain in front of the door. Toilets: in the scree near the hut. Please take your toilet paper back down. Network: none? (may depend on operators).
