Park at "Combe Louve" (hiking sign), at the end of the paved road connecting the village of Saint-Paul-de-Varces to the hamlet of Les Mallets. Continue on foot along the forest track that extends it. Just after crossing a footbridge over the Echarine stream, climb a path on the right. This shortcut leads to another track that crosses the stream again. After a few short switchbacks, it turns into a trail in dense vegetation. It quickly leads to the cabin, located on a wide flat area.
Shelter formerly maintained by the ONF of Saint-Paul-de-Varces. The insulation is quite good, with a door that closes properly, and broken window panes replaced by solid wooden panels. The furniture consists of two chairs and a table in a first room, along with a broom, a shovel, two candle holders and the famous guestbook. In the second room there is a stove, unfortunately out of order as it is not connected. You can plan to sleep 4 or 5 people, but directly on the concrete floor. For water, the Echarine stream is nearby.
