The quickest way is to park at the parking des Clots. You then hike up in 1 hour, via the GR (arriving from the NW) or by going through the Fauge valley, past the Fauge cabin, then taking a path that passes near a private house and leads up to the cabin. Access by public transport: Bus stop at Villard-de-Lans train station. Go to the town hall square to take the uphill pedestrian street and then a small road. At an intersection, follow the marked path leading to the Pont de l'Amour and then to the cabin. Schedules are available at www.transisere.fr
The cabin is well-built, with shutters on the windows and good tables inside and outside. Sleeping is on bunk beds. The place is not too dirty, except for the floor. Nearby water sources if the Roybon spring is dry: Magdelen and Pissavache, Grand Gour is supplied by Villard. A poorly maintained fireplace that can quickly fill the cabin with smoke if the fire is not placed at the back. One corner of the cabin (bunks on the left side) leaks when it rains. INVENTORY: broom. No saw. No water at the fountain in winter. The dry toilets seem to be closed in winter.
