From the main square of the hamlet of Saint-Sauveur (commune of Notre-Dame-de-Mésage), follow a yellow-marked path which, after a few bends, joins a forest track at around 850m. Follow it left for nearly 1km to find a newly marked path (direction "belvédère de la Roche") climbing due south. Sometimes bordered by ancient dry-stone walls, it ascends a discreet valley up to the cabin. It is also possible to come from the top, Beauplat, although the little-used trail gets lost in the slopes. However, the trail from the cabin to the Col de la Chal has almost disappeared. Access by public transport: Transisere bus lines n°4100-4101, stop "Saint Sauveur". Timetables are available at www.transisere.fr
A very pretty cabin built on the ruins of an old sheepfold, mainly used and maintained by local hunters. Available equipment: table, benches, stools, broom, axe, saw. Small mezzanine that can be used for sleeping. Wood storage room. The insulation seems more than adequate. Stove repaired in 2023. This shelter can serve as a stopover before heading to the nearby belvédère de la Roche, or for the more enduring hikers to the various peaks of the Conest. Seems to be open intermittently.
