Access

Along the road. Almost at the end of the paved road coming from Notre-Dame-de-Vaulx. The road is closed from the first snowfalls until the last. A half-hour descent from the summit of La Peyrouse. Three hours to reach it from Le Mollard via the summit. Approximately one and a half hours from Notre-Dame-de-Vaulx. The road serving this alpine pasture is no longer paved a few hundred meters after the shelter.

Good to know

This shelter was renovated a year or two ago. It is not a shelter meant for sleeping, see the photos. It is rather a renovated shelter for hikers, hunters or herders in case of a storm or strong wind. There is no way to lock or heat it. No kind of sleeping accommodation. Two picnic-style tables. A barbecue. The area appears quite open, even in winter, but be careful: there have been fatal avalanches in the southern couloirs of La Peyrouse. This mountain and shelter, amid all the major massifs in the area, offer exceptional views. It is the start of the grazing area during the season. No water nearby.
