Access

Between Allemont and the Rivier d'Allemont, park 100m before the hamlet of Articol in a spot by the roadside. Climb through the forest (Charmille). Around 1200m altitude, the trail emerges into a clearing near the Articol stream, follows it and continues in tight switchbacks, reaching the chalets of Gay (ruins), 1356m. To the right (north), the trail through the woods (marked with Rond Blanc on the trees) joins the GR549. For the rest of the ascent, bring a map and a compass. From the Rivier d'Allemont (parking), a forest road restricted to residents passes in front of the church (water points on site) and leads to the bridge crossing the Frenet stream. Turn immediately west and follow the GR (sparse markings) which crosses three streams before climbing in zigzags southward to a col at the eastern foot of the 2067m summit. The GR no longer bypasses the 1897m hill to the east but cuts through the old loop.

Open cabin occupied by a shepherd during the summer grazing season. Stone cabin with an insulated tin roof and an attached woodshed. Outdoor fountain but cut off in winter. Fine location facing the Rissiou. Inside: wood-burning stove, a table with 2 benches, cupboards, shelves with kitchen utensils (cutlery, plates, pots and pans), photovoltaic lighting. Sleeping area upstairs on foam (4 places). Impeccable cleanliness. Note: same owner as Cabane des Chalanches, Chazeau, Rif premier. The wood reserve is located just beside the cabin entrance on the left. It opens to the outside and contains a working saw and axe. Usable wood is not nearby: you must descend marked slopes, gather wood in the forest and carry it back uphill. Mobile network: excellent signal right at the cabin threshold (Orange 3G).
