From the "Jeu de Paume" parking lot where vehicles can be parked for hiking departures, take the forest track heading towards the "Cité Vaugraine", a ruined former miners' dormitory. A few hundred meters before reaching "Vaugraine", where the track starts to descend more steeply, leave the track to the left following a kind of trench (remains of iron mining works). After a while, the building appears off any path on a flat area in the undergrowth. The building, constructed between 1915 and 1920, is visible on the IGN top 25 map.
This abandoned building is a remnant of the mining operations that took place in these mountains until 1928. It is a transformer room. Today, the building is completely empty and in a state of abandonment. It could easily become a good and pleasant shelter with little expense. For now, it offers basic shelter from the elements. Its walls and floor are entirely masonry, the door is a riveted sheet metal door, robust for the time. The roof consists of reinforced "parplanche" type reinforcements from the Great War, armored for mining consolidation or steel trench (a roof that resists falling trees). The structure is dry and robust. There is a basin with a spring at Cité Vaugraine, located a few hundred meters away.
