From Porta: In Porta, pass under the railway line and continue to the bridge that crosses the torrent, parking. Then ascend the vast valley leading to Portella Blanca d'Andorra 2517 m. From this pass, descend westwards, first slightly into Andorra then southwest into Spain, following several streams down to the flat area where the Cabana dels Esparvers stands. A sign indicates Portella Blanca 4.1 km. From Vall de Llossa: Drive via Puigcerdà, N260, Prullans, Coboriu de la Llossa, Viliella; from there you can drive to the end of the track at Cal Jan de la Llossa (no parking along the way). You arrive at a farmyard where you can leave your vehicle for 2 € per day (2014 rate). Cross the farm and follow the track north to a footbridge, cross it and reach the flat area where the hut stands. From the Grau Roig ski station at the western foot of Port d'Envalira: Take the path south, passing under the ski lifts, to join the GR7 heading southeast to Portella de Joan Antoni, which you cross. Then follow the path descending from Portella Blanca as described above. From the hut nestled at the foot of Estany de l'Illa: Reach Estany dam, then head east to cross Port de Vallcivera. Descend eastwards to the flat area, where the path from the left leading to Estany and the non-guarded Refuge de Montmalus arrives. Continue roughly east along the left bank of Riu de Vallcivera to reach the flat area where the hut stands.
No equipment. Can serve as an emergency shelter. There is a chimney visible from the outside, but inside I did not check if lighting a fire is possible.
