The refuge is located at the end of the La Trapa track, accessible from the village of Villanúa. The track is normally closed to traffic beyond a barrier located 3 km from the village. Continuing on foot along this track, 500 m further on, on the right, there is a sign indicating "Refuge de la Trapa 2H10". Follow this trail, which cuts through the switchbacks and leads to the refuge, located shortly after leaving the woods. This path also leads to the Collarada.
The refuge consists of two parts: a room on the left, empty, and a room on the right containing two tables (one large and one small), four chairs, two metal beds with mattresses and a large fireplace. Outside, there is a picnic table with benches. Water comes from a spring that feeds a large basin next to the refuge. In early June, the flow is already minimal and it is uncertain whether this spring will remain active throughout the summer. You should therefore bring your own water reserves. The trail ascending into the forest crosses a small stream, but it is unlikely to be active throughout the summer.
