At the Izandorre pass, along the Camino francés.
Emergency shelter useful in case of frequent bad weather in these exposed ridge areas subject to wind and winter snowstorms. Simple building, quite small but with solid walls, closed by a metal door that opens inward (thus accessible in case of snow) but without a window. Inside, a concrete bench/bed frame covered with wood can accommodate 2 people for emergency sleeping. A fireplace is present in one corner of the room. If needed, wood can be collected in the forest below the pass or along the path towards France to the northeast. An emergency call station for the Spanish rescue services is located next to the door. At the end of the bench, facing the door, there are a USB-A and a USB-C port protected by a cover that work for charging small devices.
