The Cabane de Bounavaux is a guarded mountain hut located in the Bounavaux valley, west-northwest of the Vanil Noir. It is managed by André Dubath and owned by the public domain. Guarded from September to early October, then from late May to early September.

From Grandvillard: a drivable road leads to the Gros Pas chalet (1077 m). At the fork, head towards Les Teys and Pra Châtelain to the parking area before the Baudes chalet (1285 m). The path, still drivable but closed to vehicles, leads to the Coudré chalet (1368 m). From there, a trail climbs in a few switchbacks to the hut. From Grandvillard, allow 2 hours. From the Baudes parking area, allow 60 minutes. Be aware that dogs are not allowed in the reserve.
The hut opens on the last weekend of May and is also guarded during the week from that date, as well as in September. Closed in winter. As the hut has no telephone, same-day reservations cannot be guaranteed. No meals are served, only soup and drinks (mineral water, beers, wines, coffee, tea and spirits). Apart from soup, à la carte meals are not available. However, the wardens are happy to let you use the kitchen to prepare your own meals. The 3 dormitories, with capacities of 10, 20 and 25 places, are equipped with mattresses, Nordic duvets and pillows. Prices: CAS La Gruyère member CHF 10.-, CAS + UIAA member CHF 18.-, non-member CHF 22.-. Children up to 6 years free, 7 to 16 years half price.
