The Binntal hut was built during the Second World War as an observation post with 16 places for border guards. Later, they were tasked with combating illegal cigarette trafficking. The border guard corps offered this hut to the Delémont section of the CAS in the 1960s. It was expanded to 50 places in 1979. The hut remains open all year round, but is only guarded from late June to late September. Prices: a) CAS members, military, members of alpine societies, gendarmes and border guards on duty: 20.- CHF b) CAS or reciprocal organisation guide: Free c) CAS course leaders and J+S instructors on duty, OJ: 12.- CHF d) Children of CAS members accompanied: 7 to 15 years old: 9.- CHF, up to 6 years old: Free e) Other non-member visitors: 28.- CHF, 16 to 20 years old: 13.- CHF, 7 to 15 years old: 10.- CHF, up to 6 years old: Free f) Groups of 8 or more announced with a responsible leader: 26.- CHF g) Breakfast: 10.- CHF h) Dinner: 20.- CHF Outside the guard period, 36 places are available in a dormitory with mattresses and blankets, stove available but no kitchen or gas.
