The Bouquetins Hut is a staffed mountain hut run by the SAC - CAS. It is located in the Valais canton, in the municipality of Arolla.

Start from Arolla heading south, where the road gradually turns into a track and then a trail, all along the left bank of the valley. At 2089 m, a footbridge allows crossing to the opposite bank, which you will follow continuously to the hut. After crossing the Bertol glacier outlet (2336 m), ignore the left-hand fork (east) leading to the Bertol hut. You will skirt steep slopes, gradually turning east towards the Haut glacier d'Arolla valley. Around 2700 m, still on the right bank, you will follow the glacier (crevasses!) and continue straight south for another 1500 m before rounding a promontory crowned by a flat area where the hut is built. Allow 4 hours with a good pace. Due to the general retreat of glaciers, access to the hut is easier but still requires crossing the Haut glacier d'Arolla, with all necessary caution and safety measures. Allow 4 hours to climb from Arolla without rushing. The blue triangular markers along the route are often knocked over or displaced by natural elements. Do not rely on them without caution. Do not follow the base of the Bouquetins chain to reach the hut because of frequent rockfalls. When walking on the moraine, remember that the blocks are not entirely stable. Be careful if there is a thin layer of ice in the morning before sunrise or once the sun leaves the Haut glacier d'Arolla.
This shelter is a Swiss alternative to the Col Collon Italian hut of the same name. Sleeping places with mattresses, wood-burning stove (use sparingly). No running water (snow patches) or telephone. Often overcrowded in winter (stage of the Chamonix-Zermatt traverse).
