Access is on foot only, most conveniently from the good hiking trail "Île-Rousse - Corte": towards elevation 1175, leave this trail to head north-northwest following a few cairns through low maquis dotted with junipers. The cave-shepherd's hut is located on the southern edge of a small plateau, within a wooded rocky chaos.
This former shepherd's shelter (formerly the sheepfold of "Montagnola" or "Muntagnola", with some adjoining livestock enclosures) was converted by building a stone wall closing off a large "taffonu"; the floor is flagged and relatively flat. No more permanent water source (formerly: a spring on the other side, 100 meters to the north). Sensitive natural area: numerous juniper trees producing incense - lighting fires is strongly discouraged.
