The Bonverdan refuge is an unmanned mountain hut located in Giez, in Haute-Savoie. It is managed by the ONCFS and belongs to the public domain.

4 common ways to get there: from the Vallon de Saint Ruph to the north at the bottom of the valley (parking at the end of the forest road), from the La Sambuy resort, from the Nant Fourchu on the Chéran to the south (passing through [->1370]), via the tour of the Arcalod (other side, Précherel, Col de Chérel, Pas de l'Ours).
It is a small, charming building with a pretty green tin roof, not very large but very functional! Nevertheless, everything necessary is there. Very good insulation, a stove for cooking, a bunk bed with 2 recent mattresses (changed in 2011) and two places on the upper floor (with 2 mattresses also recent, 2011), a table, benches, and a wood reserve outside in a small hut opposite the refuge (it is almost impossible to sleep there, although some have tried). Note that the two upper places under the roof in the eaves can easily be overlooked, as access is not straightforward! Various kitchen utensils. Brooms, shovel, saw, marlin, chopping block, the latter to be used sparingly. Caution: no water nearby (remember to fill up or go to the fountain at [->2939], or at [->2782], or at [->6941]). Indeed, the fountain next to the refuge has not provided water for a long time... Dried-up source? Maintenance and improvement work was carried out in November 2015 and December 2016: propping up the woodshed, building a dry-stone wall, moving the outdoor fire, adding a 2-place mattress, repairing the stove and its flue, general cleaning. A new round of work and improvements is planned for spring 2021.
