Access

From the [->1047], which can be reached from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains by the Mont-Blanc tramway, cross the Pierre-Ronde desert via the steep trail towards Mont Blanc. Pass the [->1046], climb the lower part of the Payot ridge and reach the hut by crossing the Tête-Rousse glacier. The hut is only visible 15 minutes before arrival.

The hut was expanded in 2003 with the construction of a second building just above the old one. Wild camping is allowed around the hut. During the guarded period: 72 beds, blankets, silk sheets mandatory (available for purchase at 10€ if needed), indoor toilets, no running water, no washbasins, no showers. Meals available, no kitchen area, no drying room, no heating, no Wi-Fi, no power outlets, pets not allowed. During the unguarded period: 12 beds, blankets, silk sheets mandatory, no toilets, no running water, no washbasins, no showers.
