Le clos de la Balme (1230 m), reached via Corrençon. Take the marked trail southward leading to the Pas de la Balme. Before reaching this pass, on the right, at the edge of the trail, you will find the closed Bergerie with its rudimentary shelter, facing the Tête des Chaudières.
Bergerie occupied in summer and closed. However, a small room next to it under the same roof provides shelter and a place to eat, very basic and not suitable for overnight stays, no sleeping facilities available. Inside: 1 café-style table, 3 chairs, 2 saws, 1 small shovel, and a small stock of wood, likely reserved for the shepherd given there is no stove in the shelter. Located facing the Tête des Chaudières and close to the Pas de la Balme. The nearest water point is in Corrençon.
