Access

Less than 3 hours from the 39-45 monument in Livet, down below. There is a slightly exposed passage in the middle, visible on the map, but the trail is good. The Col de la Petite Vaudaine is also a bit of a scramble. The Col de la Passure is a steep scree slope on both sides. These last two trails are abandoned and difficult to follow (the Col de la Petite Vaudaine may be marked with blue dots). The trail leading to Chamrousse (not des Escombailles) is exposed, sometimes washed away and also gets lost in the scree.

Good to know

Cabin renovated and refurbished in 2016. Frequented by hunters. Old mattresses where six people can squeeze in. A weak water point set up in front of the door. Very small, little space around the table. Stone cabin, 1 door, 1 window that do not close very well. The Vaudaine valleys are little frequented, the cabin is perched on the side of a fairly steep slope: eagle’s nest atmosphere. This cabin is sometimes closed, presumably during the season when the shepherd is present.
