The quickest way is to drive from Prélenfrey along the forest road des Bordeaux. Then, around 1200m, turn left onto the road to Chaussonneyre. Upon reaching a small plateau, park near the 1190m point (hiking sign). Then continue on foot along the yellow/green marked path to a fork just below the 1245m point (wooden directional sign). Take the left unmarked branch. As it becomes level, the hut tucked away in its clearing appears on the left of the path.
The roof and stone walls of this hut, which are in fairly good condition, could have provided good insulation. Unfortunately, the entrance door is missing. There are also, curiously, no windows. Inside, it is basic to say the least: just a very old bench on a dusty, stony floor, along with the remains of a stove. In short, while this shelter is not of great practical interest, it does have historical significance, which may explain why it has never been destroyed. Indeed, during World War II, Jewish children taken in at the Prélenfrey preventorium would take refuge here in the event of German troop movements, as well as at the Baraque des Clos.
