Cabane des Pleynets

The Cabane des Pleynets is an unguarded mountain hut located in the Malentraz valley area, in Isère. It is managed by a public entity.

Access

On the left bank of the Valjouffrey, roughly between Les Faures and the Chapelle, to the NW of the Malentraz valley (see this name). Area belonging to the peripheral zone of the Écrins National Park. On the winding trail linking the Prés Clos to the Malentraz valley. The hut is below (NE) the point marked 1766 m (PNE post), on a grassy ridge. It is NOT directly on the trail between the Prés Clos and Malentraz, but below it. The IGN map correctly positions it (though some maps place it on the Prés Clos-Malentraz trail).

Good to know

This structure has a relatively recent appearance (in concrete). The door locks well with a padlock. One window. Water is available from a trough a short distance downstream. The stove appears to be functional. Firewood can be scavenged nearby. It contains a table, 5 plastic chairs, 2 folding chairs, and a wooden bench. There is also an axe and a pickaxe, 2 brooms (without handles), and a dust shovel. The door and windows open and close, but the windowpane is broken. The shutters are in good condition. The concrete provides some insulation. Sleeping is on the floor (concrete).
