By car From Pau take the N134 to Gan. Then take the D934 towards Laruns. Drive through Laruns and continue on the same road towards Col du Portalet. Leave Lac de Fabrèges on the left. Park 4km after the lake, at Caillou de Soques (a fire indicates an avalanche couloir). Follow the signs on foot. By public transport (July-August only) From Pau train station, take bus 806 to Gourette (Transports64, +33 0 800 64 24 64) Get off at Laruns stop. Take bus 806bis to Col du Pourtalet (Transports64, +33 0 800 64 24 64) Get off at "Socques" stop. Follow the signs on foot. On foot From the Caillou de Soques car park. Head northwest to cross a bridge. Follow a trail that climbs the valley to the west towards the Pombie hut. Enter the forest without delay. At the footbridge (1610m), cross it and head northeast along animal tracks. Leave the forest below. The hut appears a little higher up on the left after a rocky outcrop.
3 rooms (kitchen, bedroom and mezzanine) closed. Free all year round to hikers The mezzanine contains many (6) baby mattresses in poor condition. The bedroom is a simple room with a concrete floor covered with a tarpaulin. The kitchen contains: * A fireplace * A saw * A few candles * A large collection of candle bottles * A table (very fragile) * 5 stools (4 broken, 1 intact) * Numerous pots and pans. The nearby spring is trampled by cows and therefore unusable; a stream flows all year round (weakly) 70m to the northeast.
