At the entrance of Villard Benoît on the D94 from the Col de la Madeleine, follow a small road that crosses Biollay and leads to Plan de Lay 1650 m (parking). A sign indicates the direction of the Porte des Arangles; follow this direction. Shortly after, a good trail crosses horizontally to the North, climbs grassy slopes in zigzags and reaches the chalet, visible from afar, in less than an hour.
A fountain with a good flow is located in front of the chalet, marked 'not controlled' (sheep grazing nearby). The upper part of this cabin is now closed. Downstairs, an open room is equipped with a folding metal bed with an old foam mattress for two. A table, a few benches, and a saw are present. The stove is broken and completely inoperative. The shepherd stores equipment and wood in this part. There is no heating. It has become a simple shelter.
