Access from Chiomonte (771 m), with a total elevation gain of 1972 m. In summer, it is quicker to start from the Levi Molinari hut (1859 m). It can also be more easily reached from France, for example from the Ambin hut (2270 m) via the Agnel pass (3091 m). Another option is via the Savine valley (accessible from the Suffet hut or the Petit Mont Cenis hut) and the Clapier pass (2477 m). Descend to the point at 2409 m. In summer, it is advisable to follow the "variante" sign at this point (2409 m) and take the ascending loop around the Clapier cirque.
Open in July and August. The guardian speaks a little French and is an excellent cook (in 2012). Main hut (July and August in 2012): 15+2 beds. Winter hut: 10 beds.
