Due to the retreat of glaciers and their uneven surface, ascending via the Mont Blanc glacier involves significant objective dangers: large crevasses, seracs, ice or rock falls, and sometimes steep gradients (60°). Therefore, as shown in this photo, it is advisable to follow a route along the rocky outcrops on the right bank of the glacier. No markings. Climbing the Miage glacier from the La Visaille bridge (1572 m), followed by the final ascent (1000 m elevation gain), will likely take 7 to 8 hours in good, dry weather... Those heading to Mont Blanc via the Tournette know what to expect.
The cabin has moved due to the terrain (to be confirmed visually with photos) and is closed and dangerous. Water is only available as snow or ice. No heating. The approximate coordinates are due to the fact that various sources are based on different ellipsoids and surveys.
