Access

From the Gruvaz car park (1 200 m), well before Les Contamines-Monjoie. Access the chalets of Miage (1 559 m, guarded hut). Continue towards the Col de Miage, climb a rocky escarpment and the moraine to reach the Plan Glacier hut. Cross the glacier and head towards the Col de Miage where the refuge is located. Allow 7 to 8 hours. Access is also possible from the Conscrits hut.

Good to know

There are 2 huts: the old one (1890) used as a reserve and the new one (1989). No running water (1.5L water bottle: €7), no possibility to charge electrical devices. Pots and stoves available. Remember to close both the hut doors and the toilet door. Booking required at +33 6 89 53 25 10. Half board full price: €72. Payment by cheque or cash, no credit cards. Single meal, no vegetarian option. For those intolerant to gluten, lactose, fructose, sulphites, etc., it is possible to bring your own food. Outside the guard period: dormitory open with blankets / kitchen closed. Price: €8 per night. Keeping the area around the hut clean ensures drinkable water: needs should be done away from the hut and preferably downstream. Languages spoken: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish.
