Starting from the village of Saas-Almagell (1673 m.). About halfway through the village, a path ascends to the NE (signpost), crosses the Almagellerbach and curves towards the E-SE along the right bank of the valley. The Rottalbach is crossed, followed by the Wysstal stream (do not cross it again!). A few switchbacks lead finally to the hut in a rocky environment. The refuge is roughly below a rocky ridge located directly to the north called "Dri Hörlini" (meaning roughly 'three small peaks'). It takes about 3h30/4h from Saas-Almagell.
This relatively recent hut (1984) fills a gap in the southern part of the Weissmies-Portjengrat massif. It also has a small separate building without sleeping facilities or heating, which serves as an emergency shelter.... The Niesen section of the CAS has a website that can be visited. For up-to-date information, it is advisable to consult the hut's website.
