The Fletschhornbiwak (Piero de Zen) is an unguarded mountain hut located in the Valais region. It is publicly owned and situated in the municipality of Simplon Dorf.

Warning: do not confuse it with the [->2372]! First consult the Swisstopo map 1:25000 sheet 1309 "Simplon". Here are some directions that can be clarified in Simplon-Dorf. From the village center, a small road (the old Simplon Pass road) leads to the hamlet of Egge, then a forest road branches off towards the Rossboden alpine pasture (1922 m). From there, follow the moraine on the left bank of the Rossbodengletscher up to around 2600 m, with a view of the Griessernugletscher cirque. Then turn south towards a small saddle where the fixed bivouac is located. Roughly, it should take about 5 hours. An idea of the route (starting from Simplon-Dorf) on this page.
This recent structure (1999) has the characteristics of Italian metal bivouac huts, in a half-barrel shape. You should find: - a side compartment with mattresses and blankets - various accessories - no heating or lighting - water in the form of snow or ice, but due to its location, by the end of the season there may only be stones in the immediate vicinity!!
