Good to know

This hut was purchased in 1980 from the guides of Zinal by the CAS La Dôle, which maintains and manages it during the three summer months, meaning members of the section and other volunteers act as wardens. There is no half-board service; the kitchen only provides soups. Therefore, if you want lasagna or veal Orloff, you must bring the ingredients and cook them yourself. The hut offers the Arpitettaz plate (a small Valaisan dish), soup and broth, as well as a selection of drinks. Everyone must bring their own food, including dinner and breakfast. The warden can cook the food you bring or guide its preparation. In winter, the hut remains open and is occasionally managed by volunteers. To know the dates of the managed periods, contact the warden or the hut directly. A silk or cotton sleeping bag (sleeping liner) is mandatory for overnight stays. In winter, 14 places are available, and you must melt snow for water. In spring, a stream 100 m towards the Col de Milon, and sometimes a pipe near the fountain on the north side, provide access to fresh glacier water. Visitors must use wood sparingly, close doors, windows and shutters upon departure, and leave the hut in the best possible condition.
