At the end of the Val d'Hérens, pass through Haudères and turn left along a small road that ends at the Ferpècle alpine pasture (1900 m). A mule track (white-blue markings) climbs SSE to Bricola (2415 m) on the right bank of the lower Ferpècle glacier; from there, after crossing the Bricola stream, the path crosses several small valleys and reaches the moraine at 2640 m on the right bank of the Manzettes glacier. Climb this moraine for about 500 m, then descend diagonally onto the glacier, head south along its medial moraine, and cross to the left bank where a track climbs southeast towards the Roc Noir spur, reached around 3100 m. This ridge, made of large blocks, leads to the upper part of the Manzettes glacier, which is a rounded plateau. At 500 m ESE (marked by poles), the hut is found, built on a masonry base at the foot of the west ridge of point 3719 m in the Wandflue ridge. Allow at least 6 to 6.5 hours from Ferpècle, excluding stops (1700 m of ascent).
The hut is magnificently situated facing the vast glacial plateau of Hérens. The dormitories remain open in principle during winter. Apart from the ascent of the Dent Blanche via the south ridge (you can also settle for the shoulder at 3807 m or point 3719 m: the view is worth the trip!), all other objectives cross vast glaciers with significant crevasses, and you walk in the same direction as them.
