Access

From Ferpècle, start as if heading to [->2346]. At the last Bricola stream, turn east towards the moraine on the right bank of the Dent Blanche glacier. The glacier is heavily crevassed; you must plan your route on the spot from the top of the moraine: often on the right bank, but not mandatory, as conditions have notably become more complex... No less than 6 hours from Zinal to the Col de la Dent Blanche. This is the least complicated and least exposed route.

Good to know

Constructed in masonry, with a windbreak + mattresses and blankets + various utensils, but no cooking or heating facilities (bring your own stove). Water is only available as snow/ice in the surrounding area. However, in 2010 (unlike the instructions in the CAS guide by M. Brandt, written in the 1980s), it is advisable to step onto the central rocky ridge as soon as the vertical section at the base of the rock wall has been bypassed by a short ascent to the right of the Dent Blanche glacier. Leave the rocky ridge at its highest point to return to the glacier and climb the steep slope, which is largely crevasse-free and leads to the bivouac in 30 minutes.
