From Grimentz (Val d'Anniviers), a road climbs up to the Moiry dam, makes a hairpin turn just before reaching it, another one just after, and passes through a tunnel before emerging at the crest level. After following the right bank of the lake for about 4.5 km, it ends near a small body of water (2350 m). There may be traffic restrictions (construction work, maneuvers, rockfalls, etc.), or even the road may be CLOSED from Grimentz, so you should check. From there, a well-marked and well-trodden path leads to the hut in about 2 hours. If traffic is prohibited beyond the dam, allow an additional 1.5 hours.
The hut was built in 1924 and expanded in 2010. In winter, 28 places are available. An emergency room equipped with a wood stove, a gas cooker, dishes, and cooking equipment for about 12 people is provided. Two dormitories with blankets are accessible. Beautiful location, facing the Pointes de Mourti on the opposite bank of the Moiry glacier. A key base for accessing one of the finest viewpoints on the Zinal high crown: the Pigne de la Lé (3396 m), which can be reached via the Col du Pigne along its north ridge (PD) in 1.5 to 2 hours from the hut, with no complicated glaciers to cross. ALL other routes starting from Moiry (except the Aiguilles de la Lé or the Garde de Bordon - another viewpoint but more tedious) including the "easy" Bouquetins involve crossing a crevassed glacier!!
