Access

From Randa, via a forest trail through Tschuggen and the point marked 1973 m, where you must continue southeast in switchbacks, then bypass the Tierfäd promontory to the south until reaching the hut. Approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. From Täsch - Europaweg - point 2224: 3 to 4 hours. Two possible routes: one starts near the bridge at point 2228 (alpine signage in blue-white-blue), the other begins at point 2224 and crosses the rugged terrain of Tierfäd (alpine signage in blue-white-blue). Caution outside the hiking season: the metal bridge over the stream at point 2228 is removed, making the passage hazardous. The old Nepalese bridge at Grabengufer was removed to allow the installation of a new bridge in summer 2017.

Good to know

The old hut, built in 1903, had fallen into disrepair and was on the verge of total ruin by the late 1960s. Rebuilt and reopened in 2001, it is guarded from July to mid-October depending on weather conditions. Outside this period, the hut is closed and there is no winter room.
