Swiss coordinates: 633083 / 102586. It is quite rare to go there just to cross the Mischabeljoch. This shelter is mainly used for the ascent to the Täschhorn or the Alphubel, or as a stopover in the crossing of the Mischabel range. From Täschalp (Zermatt valley), the moraine of the Weingartengletscher Nord, it takes between 5 to 7 hours to reach the pass. From the [->2269], via the southern branch of the Weingartengletscher, then the previous route, it should take 5h/5h30. From Saas, but most often in this case from the Längflue via the Feegletscher, it is a rather complicated climb (AD level) and can become dangerous (large crevasses, + rock climbing) in bad conditions; it should take about 5 hours for this approach. Finally, an option taken from the CAS Geneva website: from Mittel Allalin (Saas-Fee metro-alpine) in about 4 hours via the Feechopf and the Alphubel (the fastest, safest and most beautiful route).
This structure, which originally had 10 places, has been enlarged. A new refuge with about 35 places, equipped with a recent stove and dishes, is available. No water, clean snow usually available on the north side of the pass (do not approach the edge without a rope), otherwise usually ice on the south side (dirty due to poor-quality rock from the Alphubel), blankets, tables and chairs, under Swisscom network coverage. Some sources indicate that this shelter is periodically monitored. It is advisable to inquire at Saas-Fee, Längflue or Täschhütte. Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, that the access to the pass is already a climb in itself and that the conditions for staying in this bivouac anchored in the air are far from comfortable: it is reserved for competent mountaineers. Caution: during sunny weekends, the bivouac is overcrowded.
