Access

This shelter is roughly halfway between the Chanrion and Vignettes huts. From Chanrion, once you have reached the Otemma glacier, count about 4 km along its left bank. On your right, you will see a large glacial bay divided into two parts (Aiguillette glacier on the right, Blanchen glacier on the left) in the center and halfway up which you can see a rocky outcrop: the Aiguillette (extending from the NNO ridge of the Bec de la Sasse). You must climb (crevasses!!) one or the other branch to reach a vague snow saddle at the foot of the outcrop, which you ascend over large boulders to reach the hut. Allow about 4 hours 30 minutes from Chanrion.

Good to know

Wooden hut with a sleeping platform equipped with mattresses and blankets. Gas stove (but it is better to be prepared...). Mainly used for routes on the Singla ridge or to access summits on the border (Sasse, Aouille Tseuque, Blanchen, Otemma pass, etc). A photo can be seen on This page. As for water, it is in the form of snow/ice (meltwater streams in summer...). In winter, it is very cold inside (-5°C at night, the door is not 100% watertight in a south wind).
