From the Peyre parking area (road terminus towards the Cirque de Cagateille), follow the red and white marked trail (GR) towards the Cirque de Cagateille. Gentle ascent to the Cirque (1 hour walk), continue following the markings towards Étang de la Hilette, the ascent becomes steep for 1 hour 50 minutes. The cabin is on the left when at the spillway; you must go around to reach the peninsula.
Indoor equipment: 1 table, 1 bench, 8 metal beds (4*2 bunk beds) with thin mattresses, 1 stove. For firewood, the last supply from the cirque is indicated by a sign announcing a 1-hour walk and warning about the lack of wood. A backpack is essential as many difficult passages must be crossed, requiring both hands.
