Stop the car at the crossroads between the route des corniches and the roads coming from Verdun. A pastoral track starts 100 m south, climbing slowly up the soulane. After 5 bends, where the path crosses the ruisseau de Font-froide again, the cabin comes into view in a field below. Walk 50 m across the field, heading towards it (numerous ferns).
Very small cabin, still in good condition. Last renovation in 1992. A raised wooden sleeping platform takes up half the space. The rest is occupied by the door and a fireplace in poor condition. Some grills and kitchen utensils. During my visit in November 2017, the sleeping platform was covered with dry, very old and dusty ferns. A thorough sweeping would have been necessary to make it habitable. Pick, hoe, mattock but no broom. A small wood reserve fills the remaining 30 cm between the fireplace and the sleeping platform. The nearby stream was flowing sparsely. Must be treated urgently due to the presence of herds.
