Parking at the end of the paved road at the "Pont du Moutet", 2030m. Access to the refuge on foot takes 1 hour of walking (in summer), along a 4x4 track (closed to traffic). In winter, the road is closed much further downstream, and it takes about 3 to 4 hours of walking from Névache. Access is also possible from Plan Lachat, Valloire side, via the Col and the Seuil des Rochilles. Depending on the season (summer or winter), allow between 2 and 5 hours of walking.
Guarded from 17 June to 27 September 2026. Built in 1975 and renovated in 1992. Hut equipped with a 24/7 emergency call device. Note that the emergency device, via the Galibier transmitters, broadcasts between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM a brief but accurate weather bulletin for the next 2 days. It can sometimes be very useful! Hot showers (with a 2 euro coin meter). Mobile network coverage. Nothing at the hut level. Erratic and poor signal a little further north... in other words, almost nothing. Winter hut: 32 wintering places in 4 small dormitories of 8 bunk beds each (on the upper floor). Good equipment with mattresses, pillows and blankets. "Kitchen" area (not equipped - no gas - but there is some crockery), large dining room accessible. Depending on the season and outside temperature, water arrives (or does not arrive) at the kitchen tap. A small pipe at the back of the hut, on the stream slope, allows for water collection. Broom, shovel. In winter: No heating, no toilets. Fee of 8€ per night (2021 rate). Languages spoken: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish.
