From the forest road above Traverse, either in the hairpin bend or a little further after the captured springs. Access can be difficult in spring or simply in wet weather.
The refuge is maintained by the pastoral society. The part to the right of the refuge appears (according to the guestbook) to be only a storage area for equipment. Very well equipped, on the ground floor: tiled floor, a table, a large stove, three sockets (car cigarette lighter type) allow you to plug in appliances. Cupboards contain kitchen utensils and other essentials (salt, pepper and grenadine syrup). On the first floor, three mattresses and 3 blankets will provide all the necessary comfort. The refuge is new. There are a total of 8 sleeping places. There is no permanent water point nearby but there is a water reserve (water tank of nearly 1000 l) on the east side of the cabin. There is a saw, but the wood is not nearby. The chalet is very well insulated. Caution: near the refuge, the combe de la Grande Vaudaine is private property and a private hunting ground. Access is prohibited.
