4 hours from the foot of the pass (1150 m elevation gain). From the Foot of the Pass, follow the GR54. At the top of the Pas d'Anna Falque, take the right path that follows the right bank of the Romanche closely until the Plan de Valfourche. Turn right into the valley of the Clot des Cavales, which is climbed up to the point marked 2889 m. Then cross to the right to reach the hut. More technical variant with cables (not recommended for those afraid of heights): on the left bank moraine of the Clot des Cavales glacier, at the point marked 2580, take the right path, more direct through rocky bars. Access is also possible from La Bérarde and the Châtelleret hut via the Col du Clot des Cavales (caution: mountaineering route).
The former construction cabin that served as a refuge has been dismantled. Since August 2024, a new, more comfortable refuge has been welcoming users. The hut is guarded from mid-June to mid-September and during the spring ski season. To improve your reception conditions at the hut, avoid overcrowding and ensure reliable payment for overnight stays, it is now necessary to book your stay if you wish to sleep at the Pavé hut.
