From the parking area at Pont d'Arsine (1667 m), accessible from Villar-d'Arène or Pied-du-Col, there is only one route: southeast along the right bank of the Romanche river to Pas d'Anna Falque, then via (some tracks branch off to the right closer to the torrent) the refuge of Alpe du Villar d'Arène, where you turn southwest (a path continues towards Col d'Arsine to the southeast), still on the right bank. After winding around rock piles, at the new valley junction at the place called "Valfourche": you are at 2100 m. At the next junction, head directly south, crossing to the left bank of the torrent descending from the glacier of Plate des Agneaux. Two kilometers further, the easy walk ends: you face west to cross a large rocky barrier (200 m "thick", heavy going) at the top of which began a large snowfield that only ended once you reached the hump where the refuge is built. Nowadays, you will probably replace the word "snowfield" with "scree". It will take you 6 solid hours.
The mountain hut is open all year round, with a guardian from mid-June to early September.
