Road to the Vallée de la Grande Maison until the final parking area, then take the path on the left leading to Lac du Plan du Jeu (well marked), just before reaching this lake, you pass in front of this chalet. The whole route takes about 1 hour and 370m of ascent.
The hut is quite small overall; the upper floor can sleep up to about 10 people, but space on the ground floor is ultimately limited: a dresser, a fireplace, and ledges along the walls take up space. Wind insulation is adequate (no gaps), but the upper floor can still get quite cold in places because the very large fireplace, although very nice, consumes a lot of wood for a poor result, even though the flue passes through the upper floor. Just in front of the hut, but otherwise a stream flows all year round 50m away. There is also a lot of equipment (valid as of September 2025): numerous plates, 5 pots, 2 frying pans, a total of about 8 chairs (wood and plastic), a table seating about 6, 2 blankets upstairs, cutlery in quantity, bowls and cups, candles, an axe, a folding saw and a handsaw, a broom whose handle no longer holds. In the area, wood is scarce; there are a few rare conifers cleared 50m from the hut, otherwise you have to descend (50m descent) a little to the forest limit to find more, but you will have to carry it back up! The hut is on a plateau with a magnificent view of the peaks. This hut may be occupied by hunters who drive up with their 4x4s starting September 15th (i.e., during the hunting season).
