From the hamlet of Blavy (1471 m) where cars are left, a pastoral road reserved for shepherds climbs, via Varbre, to the Viou alpine pasture (largely ruined - 2059 m.). From there a trail heads northeast and, through countless switchbacks (steep short-grass slopes uphill, rockfalls), leads to the Viou pass (2698 m), between the Becca di Viou on the left and Mont Mary on the right. Turn sharply northwest along a path ascending toward the Becca di Viou and shortly after you will see on the right a flat area where the shelter is built. Allow 3h30 to 4h30 depending on fitness, packs, etc.
-completely waterless area! (melt snow if necessary) -good insulation -table, benches gas stove
