Access

I only know the route backwards and shortened, as it was followed while descending after crossing the Mt Gelé, via the homonymous glacier and the scree/snowfields leading to the lakes. Here are some indications nonetheless Access to Glacier, at the end of the Val d'Ollomont, is identical to that of [->2339]. Markings have been set up in the form of yellow-painted discs with the number 6 painted in black, corresponding to the route in question. After the hamlet, you must cross a small bridge and follow the markings, passing a small troglodytic votive chapel (around 1850 m), the alpages des Places (2149 m) and the Plan du Breuil. From there (signpost), you cross a lock towards the lakes of Inclousa (2420 m) and Leytou (2538 m), from which it is a few minutes to the hut. From Glacier, it takes about 3 hours. Cartography It is strongly recommended, for this entire area, to take advantage of the fact that the Swisstopo 1:25000 map, sheet 1366 "Mt Vélan" extends widely into Italy...

Good to know

Formerly (1978), there was the usual half-barrel metal construction with 6 places, painted orange-red. This has been replaced by a nice cabin combining metal and wood structure, where the number of places has almost tripled. - Water nearby, - Tables+benches, - Bunks with mattresses and blankets available - Caution: no heating, no stove! - The site indicates 15 places, but there are actually 16 mattress places Superb view of Mt Vélan with the Grand Combin in the background, as well as the upper Val d'Ollomont. Many people go to Regondi to climb Mt Gelé instead of passing via [->1708] or [->1565], or for rock climbing on the Morion ridge.
