Same as for [->1569], from which the Gnifetti hut is visible or at least audible if there is fog... Allow an extra 30 minutes. Many people arrive via the ski lifts (Punta Indren) or from the Col dei Salati (Alagna).
This alpine barracks (according to those who have stayed there, it is common to find over 300 people there at the height of summer) is the main starting point for climbs accessible from the Col du Lys (Parrot, Signal, Lyskamm, etc.). I only passed by it on my way up to Pointe Zumstein, glad I had stopped at [->1569]. Some Italian mountaineers call this hut "the chicken coop"... Outside the guard periods, 15 places are available in the winter hut. It is curious to note that, according to the source consulted online, the hut's capacity varies from 170 to 330 places.... It is better to call the hut directly...!
