Usual route, from Valtournenche (it is best to park there) you go up to the hamlet of Valmartin on the right bank and from there a path goes southwest, passes near a power plant and reaches the Falegnon alpine pasture (1912 m), from where the path turns northwest, heading towards the Cignana lake dam. A left-hand fork leads to the refuge built on the right bank of the stream. It should take 2h/2h15.
Open from mid-June to mid-September. Warning: NO winter room. Located on the route of the "Haute-Route n°1" of the Aosta Valley. No winter room. No personal opinion, I have never stopped there, but if one is to believe its reputation (see the link), this refuge built in 1965 is more, for Italians, part of the tradition of "old-style" refuges and "family guesthouses" than a flashy gadget, i.e. without a bar, a huge restaurant room, etc., with a welcome to match from the builder's daughter. Mobile phones barely work or not at all, no internet connection, no hot showers: those addicted to "modernity" will have to look elsewhere! I believe this place is worth a visit...
