Access

Before coming, check access conditions from Pré de Madame Carle: recurring floods from streams can lead to road cuts, parking flooding, disappearance of footbridges, etc. Access routes are identical to those of the refuge des Écrins. Allow 2h/2h30.

Good to know

Stone-built refuge offering a superb view of the Glacier Noir basin and the Pelvoux-Pic sans Nom-Ailefroides Trilogy. There are 35 winter places available. For recent tips, consult the refuge's website. Ideal base for Pointe des Cinéastes, Pointe Cézanne, and the Agneaux via the Glacier Jean Gauthier and the Col du Monétier: it is also the safest and quickest escape route in case of severe bad weather (45 min from the col...at night!) even for those who reached the Agneaux via other routes.
